Another Interesting Year

Today is my 39th birthday. So as one can imagine I have spent some time with family this weekend. I have had a little time to think about the past year with the many memories and experiences. My children are growing, learning and keeping Laura and myself active and entertained.

I only seem to have one troubling area in my life that I am dealing with, which is how little people are interested into giving each other a helping hand using the payoffthemortgage.org website.

The website has now been available for over 18 months with little to no following. This leads me to ask: How bad does it need to get economy wise for people to consider helping each other?

Let's see: unemployment is in the double digits in many states, foreclosures are near their peak and Deutsch bank recently posted a prediction that half of all mortgages will be in some part of foreclosure by 2011 (kind of bleak).

One would think that using the power of the internet for an actual good purpose would be more accepted. I am guessing that doing good loses out to porn, social sites and spending in the internet hierarchy.

I did question if something was wrong with focusing on mortgages but when I did the analysis again there are just to many positives. Credit cards balances can get wiped out in bankruptcy, Cars do not hold value and no one wants to pay to buy some one a new Porsche when they are driving decade old car. Homes allow for equity (savings, nest egg) to be built, equity that can be tapped (cashed-out) if needed. Homes are where families grow, provide memories and like the saying goes," Home is where our heart is".

I remain upbeat and positive looking toward the future nevertheless. We all know that each year more memories (good and bad) will take place. My kids will continue to keep me on my toes as their world expands throughout another school year and sometimes good ideas take time to grow, be accepted in society.

I raise a glass toward another wonderful year ahead.

  1. Hi,
My heart is the homeless, or near to be homeless.
I am not sure as to how your plan works. Are there qualification?
I am interested in your zeal for this idea.
I will continue to read your post.

  2. Hi Ginny,

Thanks for the comment about zeal. I have for a long time felt that the idea of helping one another is quickly fading from America. I am from the midwest originally (Minnesota)so I tend to hold and express the values with which I have been raised with.

One need only to choose to help and select from those who have placed their information in one of the listings. If someone is in need of help and owns a home. I more than welcome their mortgage listing.

I believe that we need lots of Good Samaritan's willing to donate a few dollars every so often to one or each of the listed mortgages through either Paypal or directly to the financial institutions to start making progress.

Of course word of mouth through faith community, family and friends would help also.
